SafetyMat® products are engineered to deliver dependable slip-resistance, durability, and hygiene across residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare environments. The following standards outline how our materials, surface textures, and safety features align with recognized U.S. and international safety protocols.
SafetyMat® products are made using high-quality materials that have been certified or tested to the safety standards referenced below. These include UL 410 slip-resistant materials, ASTM-tested surfaces, Prop 65–compliant components, and photoluminescent pigments tested to ASTM E2072 and DIN 67510. However, it’s important to note that SafetyMat® as a finished product is not independently certified by UL, NFSI, ADA, OSHA, ASTM, or any regulatory agency. These organizations certify materials, not products. Our mats are manufactured with certified materials but we do not claim product-level certification.
Slip-Resistance & Safety Standards
NFSI (National Floor Safety Institute)
Manufactured with Slip-resistant Certified Materials Tested using NFSI-recognized slip-resistance protocols
The materials used in SafetyMat® products are tested using NFSI-recognized methods for evaluating wet and dry traction.
Why It Matters:
Slip resistance matters—especially where falls are most likely to happen. SafetyMat® products are made using materials tested with NFSI-recognized methods to deliver reliable traction underfoot. While SafetyMat® mats are not NFSI-Certified™ as finished products, the materials used in our safety mats and vinyl flooring meet traction performance standards designed to help reduce slips and falls. The result: safer footing for bathrooms, kitchens, hotels, and senior care environments—without bulky mats or suction cups.
UL 410 – Slip Resistance of Floor Surface Materials

UL 410 evaluates the slip resistance of surface materials. The vinyl materials used in SafetyMat® products are produced to meet UL 410 slip-resistance criteria.
Why It Matters:
UL 410 compliance helps ensure slip-resistant materials perform reliably under expected use conditions. SafetyMat® is made using UL 410–compliant materials designed to provide stable, non-slip traction. While the finished product itself is not UL-certified, using compliant materials supports a safer, more confident step in everyday environments.
ASTM D2047 – Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF)
Manufactured with materials tested in accordance with ASTM D2047
ASTM D2047 is the standard for evaluating the static coefficient of friction on polished surfaces.
Why It Matters:
Slip resistance is one of the most critical safety features in wet areas. Materials used in SafetyMat® are tested according to ASTM D2047 methods to help ensure reliable traction under dry conditions. This supports a safer walking surface that reduces the risk of slips and falls. Accessibility Standards
ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)

The ADA sets accessibility requirements for safe, usable walkways and transitions.
Why It Matters:
Safe, stable, low-profile surface transitions are critical for people using mobility devices or navigating with limited balance. SafetyMat® is engineered with a thin, securely adhered design that helps reduce trip hazards while providing reliable traction. While the ADA does not certify consumer mats, SafetyMat® is manufactured with ADA certified materials and designed to support ADA-aligned safety principles and safer movement in accessible spaces.

Why It Matters:
OSHA requires walking surfaces to remain clean, dry, and free from hazards. A secure, stationary, slip-resistant mat can help reduce workplace slips and falls. California Prop 65 (Proposition 65)

California Proposition 65 (Prop 65) mandates that products sold in California do not contain harmful levels of certain chemicals.
Why It Matters:
California Proposition 65 helps protect consumers by requiring disclosure of potentially harmful chemical exposures. SafetyMat® is made using Prop 65–compliant materials that fall below warning thresholds, supporting safe everyday use around children, seniors, and pets. DIN 67510 – Photoluminescent Pigments

DIN 67510 measures glow brightness and afterglow duration.
Why It Matters:
In low light or emergencies, a glow-in-the-dark safety indicator can provide critical guidance. SafetyMat® Glow’s material pigments meet DIN 67510 performance expectations, ensuring bright, reliable, long-lasting visibility when you need it most. Although the finished mat is not DIN-certified, the glow materials used are engineered to support safe movement in dim or dark conditions.
IMO RES A.752(18) – Marine Escape Route Markings

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Resolution A. 752 (18) pertains to safety signs on ships. Our safety mats are manufactured with IMO RES A. 752 (18) Compliant materials, ensuring our safety mats and vinyl flooring rolls meet global safety standards.
Why It Matters:
The glow materials used to manufacture SafetyMat® meets visibility performance IMO Resolution A.752(18) standards, recognized for photoluminescent safety guidance. This demonstrates the durability and reliability of our glow pigments in environments where visibility matters most. OSHA does not regulate or certify consumer-grade non-slip mats; however, SafetyMat® supports OSHA 1910 Subpart D standards for walking-working surfaces by:

3. UL 410 Slip Resistance Certification
SafetyMat® materials meet UL 410 performance requirements for:
“Slip Resistance of Floor Surface Materials”
UL 410-certified materials:
- Provide consistent traction under wet and dry conditions
- Maintain slip resistance when properly cleaned
- Meet nationally recognized safety expectations for anti-slip surfaces
SafetyMat® uses a UL 410 compliant vinyl formulation, meaning the raw material blend used in its production has been tested and approved for slip-resistant performance.
4. ASTM Standards Compliance
SafetyMat® materials and textures align with the following applicable ASTM performance standards:
ASTM D2047 – Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF)
Recognized as the only slip-resistance test referenced by the NFSI.
SafetyMat® manufactures its products with materials that meets the slip resistance requirements for dry testing.
ASTM E303 – Wet Surface Friction Testing
SafetyMat® surfaces maintain traction when exposed to water.
ASTM E84 – Surface Burning/Flame Spread (for material classification)
SafetyMat® vinyl is low-flame spread and suitable for commercial facilities where applicable.
ASTM E2072 – Photoluminescent Safety Markings
Applicable to Glow-in-the-Dark SafetyMat® products only:
SafetyMat®’s Glow mats meet ASTM 2072 criteria for luminance, decay, and visibility performance.
5. NFSI (National Floor Safety Institute)
SafetyMat® products are made from NFSI-referenced slip-resistant materials but SafetyMat® does not claim independent NFSI product certification.
Material-level NFSI compliance supports:

- Stable walking surfaces
- Reduced likelihood of slip-induced injuries
6. Installation & Maintenance Responsibility
Because adherence to ADA/OSHA/UL performance expectations is dependent on correct installation and maintenance, the following are critical:
- Mats must be installed on clean, dry, non-textured surfaces
- Edges must be fully pressed and sealed
- Cleaners must be non-abrasive, neutral pH
- Harsh chemicals may degrade slip resistance and void compliance claims
- Mats must be inspected periodically to ensure edges remain secure
- Failure to follow installation and care instructions may reduce or negate compliance with referenced standards.
7. Compliance Summary Statement
When properly installed and maintained, SafetyMat® products are designed to:
