Commercial FAQs

Planning for a hotel, senior living community, school, gym, pool, or multi-location property involves more than choosing a size. Find guidance about evaluating surfaces, documenting locations, reviewing products, planning installation, maintaining completed areas, and requesting available purchasing documentation.

Plan a Commercial Project

Start with a representative location and document the surface, dimensions, traffic, cleaning routine, and purchasing needs before planning a wider rollout.

Is SafetyMat® Available for Commercial Applications?2026-10-11T15:51:16-04:00

Yes. SafetyMat® offers products and custom options that may be considered for commercial applications, but availability does not establish suitability for every facility. A hotel, senior-living community, school, gym, pool, kitchen, or multi-location property can have different surfaces, water exposure, traffic, cleaning equipment, documentation, and operational requirements. Start with one representative location. Provide photos, dimensions, surface details, cleaning methods, expected traffic, quantity, and any purchasing documentation your team needs. SafetyMat can then help identify available options and questions to resolve before a larger rollout. The facility remains responsible for its site-specific requirements and evaluation.

Can Facility Maintenance Staff Install SafetyMat®?2026-10-11T15:51:07-04:00

Often, yes, when facility staff can follow the exact product instructions and the facility’s work procedures. Begin by confirming the surface, product, dimensions, drain layout, and completely dry installation method. Staff should know how to prepare the area, perform a dry layout, expose the liner gradually, smooth the mat, and document the completed work. Larger mats or wide flooring may need two people. The facility should assign responsibility for installation, inspection, cleaning, corrective action, and replacement rather than treating the work as maintenance-free. If the representative surface is uncertain, use the support contact below for review before starting a multi-location rollout.

How Should a Commercial Facility Plan Replacement?2026-10-11T15:51:15-04:00

Plan replacement by condition and documented inspection rather than by one universal calendar interval. Define what staff should look for: lifted edges, bubbles, tears, contamination, visible wear, movement, changed traction, blocked drainage, or changes in the surrounding surface. Set an inspection frequency that reflects traffic, water exposure, cleaning, and facility operations. Assign responsible staff, record installation and inspection dates, photograph concerns, and define who can restrict the area, request review, or authorize replacement. A visible problem should be addressed promptly even if the planned review date has not arrived. Use current product guidance and the facility’s actual conditions to maintain the plan.

Important application note

Choose SafetyMat for a compatible surface and follow the instructions and written policies for the exact product. SafetyMat products are manufactured using certified source materials. Those certifications apply to the source materials and their manufacturers—not to SafetyMat or the finished SafetyMat product. No certification has been issued under the SafetyMat name.
